The Retiree Lunch and Learn Presents: The Jewish Americans; The Saga continues
The Jewish-Americans is a documentary film that covers 350 years in the lives of Jews who have struggled to maintain their religious identity and still be fully accepted as Americans.
Part 3 of this amazing series spans the years from the early 1950's till about 2000. Some highlights of these years include: a half million Jews return from the military services and share their experiences from the war. These years cover the creation of the modern State of Israel, Carl Reiner, Mel Brooks, Sid Caesar and Woody Allen and their great impact on America, the rise of Communism and the execution of the Rosenbergs and how that impacted the Jewish Community, the Jewish struggle for Civil Rights and the conflict with the Black Power movement, and many more people and events that shaped the Jewish Experience in America.
The D'var Torah will be presented by our own Dr. Irwin Goldblatt.
The program is open to all retirees in the community and will offer a wonderful opportunity to socialize with each other in a meaningful way.
Our luncheon will be one in which we will partake of Chanukah Cuisine in anticipation of Chanukah the following week. Come hungry.
There will be a charge of $10 per person to help defray the cost of the meal.

Parshas Ki Savo describes that Hashem heard the voices/supplications of the Jewish people. May Hashem hear each of our voices as they ascend from the depths of our hearts to the heights of the shamayim (heavens), and may our efforts make our tefillos more effective and meaningful as well as bring nachas to every one of us and great simcha to our lives as we each do our part to grow closer to Hashem.
