Ohr Torah welcomed Avhsalom Katz as our guest chazan on Shabbos.

Avshalom led Kabbalat Shabbat onFriday night and Musaf on Shabbat day.
He demonstrated a number of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur tefilot 15 minutes after conclusion of davening on Shabbat Day.

Avshalom Katz Bio

Avshalom Katz was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. As a child prodigyAvshalom sang along with some of the greatest cantors, including Moshe Koussevitzky.
Avshalom made aliya in 1962. After high school, he served in the Israel Defense Forces -- one year in Golani, and two years in the Rabbinical Army Choir.
Following the army, by special invitation, he went to the United States toteach music in Jewish schools. Avshalom successfully led childrens' choirs,
some of which had boasted over 250 children in the choirs. Avshalom Katz's name is well known throughout the Jewish music world, both in the United States and Israel.
Avshalom is also a well known Chazan, musical performer and pianist.Avshalom served as Chazan/Baal Tefila of Young Israel of Forest Hills, New York
for the High Holidays for five years. After that, Avshalom became the full timeCantor/Baal Tefila of Congregation Shaare Tefila of Los Angeles, California where he served the shul for 8 years.
For 13 years, Avshalom served as Cantor/Baal Tefila of Congregation Beth Jacob ofBeverly Hills, California. When Avshalom relocated to Raanana, Israel,
he continued part time as Chazan of Beth Jacob until the shul hired a local full time chazan.Avshalom has been a Baal tefila for the yamin noraim for a local Raanana shul.
